CAMPBELL, CALIF. - January 7, 2002 - HelloSoft, Inc., a leading communication software company, today announced the successful completion of porting HelloVoice™ Voice over Packet software onto Microsoft Windows CE .NET real time operating system (RTOS) for next generation smart mobile devices. This benefits smart mobile and handheld device manufacturers who want to incorporate voice communication capability in their products by extending the functionality of these devices for real-time voice communication over IP networks. This also provides great value to the end-users who will use their future and existing handheld organizers as web-phones.
The key advantage of HelloVoice on Windows CE .NET platform is its unique capability of running all the DSP software for voice processing on popular RISC microprocessors (e.g. MIPS, StrongARM, ARM, ARC), which are the underlying CPUs for all Windows CE .NET based devices. This means the device manufacturer would not need to add additional DSP hardware for supporting HelloVoice on their products, and users of the existing products could have HelloVoice on their handhelds without the need of any new hardware peripheral. Windows CE .NET is the RTOS of choice for this product due to its popularity amongst mobile handheld devices and it's robustness in real-time applications.
